Bobby Louis McClain Sr., of Benton Harbor, went home to the Lord Saturday, July 11, 2020 peacefully in his home. He was born February 17, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois, to his parents Rev. Sherman K. and Lucille McClain Sr.
He graduated from Hartford High School and enlisted in the Marine Corp. where he served as a Sergeant E-5.
Bobby accepted Christ at an early age, where he went on to serve on the Deacon Board at First Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Sherman K. McClain Sr. in Covert, MI. He also was a member of the American Legion. Later on, he was a member of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, Benton Harbor, MI.
After 20 years of dedication, Bobby retired from Bohn Aluminum & Brass in South Haven, MI. Shortly after, he started a landscaping business and A&B Construction Company.
Bobby was a compassionate, caring and loving father, brother, uncle, nephew and friend.
He was preceded in death by his parents Sherman K. and Lucille McClain Sr., brothers Sherman K. McClain Jr, Jimmy Mooresaw and a grandson Carlton McClain. He is survived by his children Bobby L. McClain Jr., Bonita Sutton, Nathan McClain, Tisha Lasenby, LaShonda Lasenby and Michael McClain, his step-children, Jeffrey Magett, Gloria Lasenby, Melvin Lasenby, Jr., Shiler, Cardigan, and Cedrick Shipman, a sister Eunice Orr, an uncle Davis McClain, nineteen grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Wake will be held Friday, July 17, 2020 from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at Filbrandt Family Funeral Home in South Haven, Michigan. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Henry Allen, Sr. officiating. Bobby will be laid to rest at North Shore Memory Gardens in Hagar Shore, Michigan.
