Leon Hough Brush went home to be with the Lord on September 30, 2018, at River Ridge Retirement Village in South Haven, Michigan. He was born on July 3rd, 1930 in South Haven. His parents were Forrest W. and Flora Brush of Casco Township. Leon attended the Hadaway School and then graduated from South Haven High School in 1948. He then married the love of his life Patsy Diane Lilly in 1950 and soon after settled down to raise a family and pursue his passion of farming. He was said to have farming in his blood! They also loved the Lord and served in several area churches. They were able to travel around the country in their later years with their large fifth wheel trailer in tow. Many winters were spent in Florida and later in Texas where they increased their number of friends and enjoyed being away from the cold winter months! They retired and sold the farm in 1996 and then built a new home on the original farm right next to the house they had built for themselves when they first married.
Patsy survives along with their children, Sherry and Tom Barnes, Arnold Brush, John and Lou Ann Brush, and Debbie Brush Crane (John), along with 10 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.Three brothers also survive, Alan (Kay) Brush of Holland, Ronald (Patricia) Brush of South Haven and Roger (Eunice) Brush of Zeeland.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one sister Arlene and two brothers, Raymond (Betty) Brush and William (Helen) Brush and daughter-in-law Pam (Arnold) Brush.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home in South Haven. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 4, 2018 with Rev. David Meister officiating at the funeral home. Leon will be laid to rest at McDowell Cemetery in Casco Township. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Leon’s memory to Caring Circle Hospice at Home, 05055 Blue Star Highway, South Haven, Michigan or to the Truth Skate Ministries, 05251 CR 689 South Haven, Michigan 49090.
