Laurence “Larry” Landry 95 of South Haven passed away Saturday, March 17, 2018 at the River Ridge Retirement Community in South Haven. Larry was born May 15, 1922 in South Haven to Mahala (Biddle) and Harold Landry. Larry was a 1939 graduate of South Haven High School. Larry served his country in the US Army during World War II. Larry married Jeanette Beckwith on November 22, 1946. Larry worked as a custodian for South Haven Public Schools for 25 years until his retirement in 1985. He was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in South Haven. Larry was an exceptional handy man. He could fix anything. He enjoyed woodworking, vegetable gardening, upholstering and caning. He also enjoyed music as he played both the violin and guitar.
He is preceded by his wife of 70 years, Jeannette Landry, who died in 2016. Brothers - Elmer and Wayne Landry and a sister, Grace Davis.
Surviving are his children – David (Jan) Landry of Fennville, Jeff (Diane) Landry of South Haven, Carol (Lowell) Kempfert of Neenah, Wisconsin and Laurie (Michael) Bame of Benton Harbor. Brother – Harold Landry Jr. of South Haven. Nine grand children and six great grand children also survives.
Visitation will be Saturday, March 24, from 10 to 11 AM at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in South Haven. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM at the church with Pastor Stephen Daley officiating. He will be laid to rest at Lakeview Cemetery in South Haven.
