Avis (Wallace) Spencer, 67, of South Haven, formerly of Grand Rapids, Michigan, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, September 14, 2019 at Graceway at Countryside Nursing Home in South Haven. She was born June 22, 1952 to Lynn and Elaine (Sheldon) Wallace in South Haven, Michigan. Avis obtained her bachelors degree from Ohio Dominican University. She worked as an administrator in the publishing industry. Avis served many hours in community service as a volunteer for organizations including Gilda’s Place, AARP, Art Prize, and the Democratic Party. She also enjoyed sewing.
She is preceded in death by her parents; siblings – Gary, Ron, and Kim Wallace; grandchild - Samuel.
Avis is survived by her children – Sara (Rob) Spencer Noggle of Mount Pleasant, Michigan and Matthew (Brigett) Spencer of Chicago, Illinois; siblings – Shirley Doyle of Beaumont, Texas, Richard (Helen) Wallace of Murfreeboro, Tennessee, Ilene (Jim) King of Thornville, Ohio, Linda (George) Zonyk of South Haven, Michigan, Sheila Beck of Muskegon, Michigan, Carol (Dale) Marr of Bangor, Michigan, and Rhoda Wallace of Muskegon, Michigan; three grandchildren – Katherine, Elizabeth, and Lucas; many nieces and nephews.
Private family services will be held at a later date. Avis will be laid to rest at Monk Cemetery in Geneva Township.
