Amanda V. Kessler

January 1, 1929 ~ January 13, 2019 (age 90)

Amanda V Kessler of Ganges, Michigan passed away peacefully on January 13, 2019 at Holland Community Hospital with her children at her side.  Amanda was born on January 01, 1929 to John and Katherine (Kate) Green in Rogersville, TN.  Their family moved to Rochelle, Illinois where Amanda married Walter E Kessler in 1947..  Walter and Amanda had two children Ernie L Kessler and Virginia Elaine (Kessler) Jones and moved to Michigan in 1964.

Amanda started working at a young age at a restaurant in Illinois named the Flying Red Horse.  Amanda worked in Douglas at Chase Manufacturing until it closed.  Amanda then went to High-Q Manufacturing in Fennville, Michigan as a Quality Control Inspector.  She retired from High-Q in 1992 when the company closed.  Amanda was a hard worker and was not content to just stay home after retiring so she then worked for VanTil’s Flower House and at Phelps Fruit Farm. 

Amanda loved to crochet quilts which she sold to friends for the price that she had in them for the yarn.  She loved having coffee with friends on Saturday mornings with the local ladies.

Amanda loved spending time with her family and friends. She had the same talent as her mother.  She could put a stick in the ground and grow a tree. She loved her flowers and plants.

She is preceded in death by her parents John and Kate Green from Rogersville, TN, a brother-in-law Frank Freed of Sycamore, IL and a son-in-law Ted B Jones of South Haven, MI.

Amanda is survived by her son, Ernie & Ellen (Voss) Kessler of Fennville, MI, a daughter Elaine (Kessler) Jones of South Haven, MI.  A grandson: Stacy & Heather Jones of South Haven, MI.  A granddaughter: Heather & Mike DiCosola from Rockford, MI.  Six great grandchildren; Siera Jones, Matthew, Sophia, Molly, Danny and Joey Dicosola.  Amanda is survived also by a sister, Maxine Freed and one nephew John and Donna Freed of Sycamore, IL.  Amanda has three fur baby grand dogs, Riley, Benson and Baylor.

Our Mom was a Blessing from God!  She will be missed by friends and family. Rest in the Peace of God’s Hands.

A visitation will be held at Ganges Baptist Church 6577 122nd Ave, Fennville, MI 49408 on Saturday, January 19th, from 12:00 P.M. to 1:00 P.M. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 PM at the church with Pastor Thomas officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Ganges Baptist Church. Amanda will be laid to rest at Taylor Cemetery in Ganges, Michigan.  A luncheon will proceed the cemetery services at Ganges Baptist Church hosted by the ladies of the church.
