Eleanore Loretta Starks, age 93, of South Haven, passed away Tuesday,
March 2, 2010 at River Ridge Senior Living.
Eleanore was born on January 17, 1917, in Chicago. She retired from
U.S. Steel and moved to South Haven in 1980. She was active at Hope
Reformed Church, Mobile Meals, Church Women United, and Hospice.
Eleanore was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Theresa
Webb, her first husband, Henry Bates (1970) and her second husband,
Leslie Starks (2006).
She is survived by her children Marilynn (Jim) VanderKolk of South Haven, and Robert (Kathryn) Bates of Holland; 5 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; stepchildren John Starks of Lake Placid, Florida, Judith (Joseph) Gargano of Watervliet, and Nancy (Robert Jr.) Torstenson of South Haven and 4 step grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Burial was at Chapel Hill
Gardens in Oak Lawn, IL. Memorial contributions may be given to South
