Edith Eleanor Hinz, 87, of South Haven died Sunday, January 10 at Countryside Nursing and Rehabilitation Community in South Haven.
She was born October 30, 1922 in Breedsville, Michigan to Ernest and Frieda (Johnson) Carlson. Edith married Martin W. Hinz on November 17, 1947 in Chicago, Illinois. Edith worked as a lab technician for 20 years at the Michigan Fruit Canners. She enjoyed cooking and working in the yard. Edith loved flowers and decorating the house.
She is preceded in death along with her parents by her husband – Martin Hinz who died in 2007. Granddaughter – Lorie Quinn. Twin sister – Esther Sirvotka. Sister – Alice Sefcik and brother – Elmer Carlson.
She is survived by two sons – Charlie (Linda) Hinz and Robert (Carol) Hinz both of South Haven, Michigan. Two daughters – Carol (Ron) Hall of Bangor, Michigan and Jean (Virgil) Callendar of Benton Harbor, Michigan. Sixteen grandchildren and twenty-nine great grandchildren also survive.
Visitation will be Tuesday, January 12 from 6 – 8 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10:00 A.M. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Bangor with Pastor Joshua Becker officiating. Burial will take place at North Shore Memory Gardens, Hagar Shores.
