Wanda E. Zurek, 95, of South Haven, passed away Monday, September 11, 2017 at her home under Hospice care. She was born March 7, 1922 to Frank and Jozephine (Uchnast) Zwienczkowski in Chicago, Illinois. Wanda worked for the Chicago, Illinois Public Schools system for twenty years and at the Area Agency on Aging in St. Joseph before her eventual retirement. She later volunteered at the Lincoln Elementary School in South Haven, Michigan for fourteen years and was a member of the St. Basil Catholic Church in South Haven.
She is preceded in death along with her husband and parents by her son – Richard Zurek, daughter Betty Klode, brother – Frank Zwienczkowski, and great-granddaughter - Ayla Tyson.
Wanda is survived by her children – Frances Morgan of Hollister, California, and Linda Wood of Covert, Michigan, sibling – Edward Zwinn of Chicago, Illinois, and Irene Dziondziak of Fort Wayne, Indiana. Fifteen grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild also survive.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Sunday, September 17, 2017 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home in South Haven, Michigan. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, September 18, 2017 at the St. Basil Catholic Church in South Haven with Rev. James Morris officiating.
