David Keith ThompsonAugust 13, 1947 ~ December 2, 2017 (age 70)
David Keith Thompson, 70, of Grand Junction, passed away Saturday, December 2, 2017 at the Bronson Hospital in South Haven. He was born August 13, 1947 to Granville and Marian (Seidler) Thompson in Chicago, Illinois. David honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War as an airplane navigator. David married Darlene Huet on November 13, 1999 in Lansing, Illinois. He worked for Honeywell in Alsip, Illinois as a comptroller for thirty years before his retirement in 2005. He loved animals and had a therapy dog which he took to area nursing homes to comfort the residents. They also visited libraries to help children read. David loved the water and enjoyed boating. He was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Darlene Thompson of Grand Junction, children, Paul (Portia Sipes) Thompson of Portland, Oregon, Ruth Thompson of Gypsum, Colorado, Rachel Thompson of Eagle, Colorado, Tammy (Timothy) Murphy of Mokena, Illinois, Kymberli (Richard) Payonk of Terre Haute, Indiana, Tim (Kirsten Marshall) Huet of Oakland, California, and David (Sarah) Huet of Jenison, Michigan, siblings – Gordon (Betsy) Thompson of Montgomery, Alabama, and Marcia Thompson of Jackson, Kentucky. Nine grandchildren also survive.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at the Bethel Baptist Church in South Haven. Funeral services will follow visitation at 12:00 PM at the church with Pastor Mark Congrove officiating.
